Well known UK parts recycling company Hills Salvage and Recycling Ltd has been acquired by Copart UK. Copart is an auto salvage agent which has been successful in partnering with insurance companies on the supply of used parts.
Hills Motors, as it was then known was founded over 40 years ago in Skelmersdale in the north of England and has become one of the country’s largest vehicle dismantlers and recyclers.
Hills will now take a central role in Copart’s recycled parts operation. All Hills employees will be retained and the operation will continue to be overseen by current MD, Ian Hill.
Commenting on the acquisition, Copart CEO Jane Pocock said, “Hills is a perfect fit for our business. It is noted for developing long-term, stable relationships with clients and the culture, resourcefulness, reliability, and logistical excellence, is perfectly aligned to the way we do things at Copart.” She added, “Hills is in a key location between Liverpool and Manchester, so it is a great addition to our nationwide network, and comes with its own transporter fleet.”
Ian Hill commented, “In our discussions with the Copart team, I was impressed with their vision for Hills and the determination to scale our market-leading green parts proposition. It’s a perfect combination as Copart has the vehicles, and we have the infrastructure and know-how for dismantling. I am really excited about the future and the opportunity to scale the business as part of Copart.”
